Below we have included instructions on how to setup your computer
to use ITBN's ISDN dialup service.
Please select your operating system:
ISDN Connection Setup - Windows XP
1) Install the ISDN Terminal Adaptor hardware.
If this is a USB box, you will need to plug it into your computer
and wait for the PC to recognize the hardware. If the PC fails
to recognize the hardware, you will need to install the driver
from the disk which should have come with the USB box or you can
download the drivers on line. Most driver downloads can be found
using the Google search engine at http://www.google.com.
If this is a PC card, you will need to install it into your computer
and wait for the PC to recognize the hardware. If
the PC fails to recognize the hardware, you will need to install
the
driver
from the disk which should have come with the PC card or you can
download the drivers on line. Most driver downloads can be found
using the Google search engine at http://www.google.com.
After the ISDN hardware has been successfully installed, you will
need to connect it using a network cable to the NT1 unit which
you should have received when your ISDN line was installed. Usually,
the network cable will be included in the box with the NT1.
The NT1 looks approximately like an old fashioned external modem,
with five lights on the front and five ports on the back.
Connect the network cable from the S1 port to your PC card or USB
box.
2) Set up the connection.
Once the hardware has been successfully installed and connected
to the NT1, go to:
Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Communications >> New
Connection Wizard
tYou will enter the Set up Network Wizard. Click on the Next key
for the following options:
Choose Option #1: Connect to the Internet
Choose Option #2: Set up my connection manually
Choose Option #1: Connect using a dial-up modem
TROUBLESHOOTING: If the modem option is unavailable
(greyed-out) then you have not installed your ISDN terminal adaptor
correctly.
Go back and reinstall it.
In this window, you must choose whether you would like to use
a single channel (64 kbps) or two channels (128kbps). Choose the
connectivity option you would like:
1) For a 128kbps connection, ITBN recommends that you select both
ISDN channels simultaneously.
2) For a 64kbps connection, please select a single channel
Please note that you will need to set up two accounts: one for
64kbps and one for 128kbps. Later on, when you wish to connect
to the Internet, you can choose which account will be your default.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you do not have an ISDN option
in this window, you will need to go back to make sure your ISDN
equipment is installed properly.
If you havn't already done so, click next.
Name the dial-up account you have just created. Click next.
Use “96603” for the ISP dial-up access code. Click
next.
Input the login name and password given to you by your ITBN Customer
Service Representative.
Choose the options from the bottom of the list as appropriate.
Click next.
You have now successfully created an ITBN ISDN dial up account.
3) To Connect to ITBN Using Your ISDN Account
Go to the “Connect to” option on the Start menu and
choose the connection you would like to use.
Click on “Dial” to connect.
Remember that ITBN has three different
international uplinks. If the site you would like to visit is
temporarily blocked on one, you can change your uplink by disconnecting
and logging in with a different user name.
In this case, the user “johnsmith” would be able to
login to a second and third uplink by using the User Name “johnsmith-1” and “johnsmith-2”.
The password does not need to be changed
when changing uplinks.*
To disconnect, simply right click on the network icon in the lower
right (make sure it is not your LAN connection if you have one)
and then select “Disconnect.”
* Note: The option to
choose between three different uplinks is available for the subscribers
to one of ITBN's Premium Internet connectivity packages.
